Slow Lull

Just put a dime in this
machine to see it work.
Broken is everything else
where I turn shadows lurk.

I make it hard on myself
the slings and arrows find
me as their mark even
as I sit and try to rewind.

Tell me stories of your past
where you were a child.
Not corrupt but innocent
have you traveled awhile?

The shadows I find myself
are a burden enough I fall.
This life it rips at me long
is the mile and cliffs tall.

Slow this time down I will
in my hand is a little pill.
I’ll use it to sleep tonight for
I don’t know how demons kill.

It’s okay a trip I take is full
of things I’d never expect.
Tomorrow is another day time
enough for me it to correct.

I’m a little confused and lit
is my cigarette and fingers
on her hips I remember they
touched and they lingered.

Flame was she and torn up
by life and she liked to push
the red-line she was fine
when she had wine and kush.

Slowly rowing the lull feel
I do the grips of lips still
as she jumped up on me feel
I do a feeling now so real.

Push it down I will more
for the floor I can’t ignore.
I want her memory cherished
for in my lulls I’m a bore.
