Equanimity

I’m in control
though a wind
would wisp me
away yet again.
Hard to console
I hide how I see
the complexity
of you and me.
At sadness I cry,
at anger I weep.
I do revel in us
and words keep.
These ways I am
I try to progress
beyond the mess
to heal I confess.
I know it’s a gift
to have you here.
I know it’s a gift,
your eyes to ears.
There’s little say
a kind word emit
we do as we pray
and sins commit.
Though black I
am in my soul
your whispers me
they do console.
Yet I steer myself,
I ride in waves
slapping the stern
but I behave.

I love the construct of your piece just as much as the content. Great title too. For me it stabs with it’s words, perhaps going against the winds of calm purposed. Wonderfully crafted.,
