A God’s Envy

As soon as I can be there,
up high into the stratosphere,
I’ll cling to limbs fashioned
by the wind’s sharp shear.

Lovely, we’re in the wind
though in strife feel my skin.
I’m falling just like you
and I’m sorry over and again.

Small are our troubles here
in the scope of all that’s mighty.
Our love bridges the valleys
and makes jealous Aphrodite.

Tell the naysayers we travel
high only where gods can see.
For the reasons I love you
are beyond what eyes conceive.

My dear the night tries to
bring calm to heat of the day.
But in night we burn a passion
that not even a god can convey.
