The Season In My Soul

From cradle to grave
we die slowly each day.
But life beckons us to
function as well as play.
Live we must strength
comes to us as we age.
For our mistakes teach
some how to behave.
I venture to the brook
where cool fresh water
I take down my throat;
demons I try slaughter.
Yet it is not enough I
pray I don’t stray away
into places I can not
return I choose to play.
Define I do a god
for to whom or where
I turn to so that for
the end I can prepare.
I know of a master in
bottles I’ve drowned all
my senses away so that
I don’t feel cold of fall.
Moon and stars spell
out a season in my life.
Reality chills my bones,
I try exhume the strife.

With Love,

Jared
