Until The Sun Dies

There are those who
know of the fate of us.
People who have been
rooted in logic, science.
Earth turns and it is like
those whom have said
all things come to end,
so too is the fate of us.
Until then I shall live
and live all that I can
until the day air refuses
pushing through lungs;
when neurons in me fail.
I shall fill my stomach
with fine food and drink.
I shall kiss cheeks willing
to be kissed by my lips.
With those lips I shall
speak of nurturing calm
to strangers whom I meet
as well as those I hold dear.
Words will have value,
words will be sincere
and the warmth I feel is
not the devil caterwauling
but my anticipation of our
sun affixed in the sky
ever burning to extinction.
